Walthamstow House: Project Update

Walthamstow House is a unique rear extension project to a Victoria terraced property
close to Walthamstow High Street.
 
The proposed design includes a single storey rear extension with open plan kitchen, dining
and entertainment space.
 
The existing alleyway is retained to create an internal courtyard for a sheltered outdoor
space. This allows the access of natural light to be maintained in the habitable rooms in the
heart of the property – a feature that is often lost with typical side infill extension projects.
 
A continuous visual connection forms a key component of the design, with a large eaves
window aligning with the original rear fenestration, the proposed courtyard, the bespoke
dining space, and the rear garden.
 
The dark, vertical timber cladding offers a gentle contrast to the existing property. A stylish
interior design of polished concrete flooring, aluminium frame windows and timber joinery
components, complement the traditional features of the original house.
